Attraverso un lavoro sulla relazione tra precisione e organicità, il workshop punterà a dissotterrare le potenzialità creative di ogni partecipante, concentrandosi su azione, movimento, ritmo, canto e sulla voce vivente. Passo dopo passo, i partecipanti saranno guidati da Jessica Losilla-Hébrail in una particolare esperienza dell’intreccio fra voce, impulso e azione, che è stato al centro delle ricerche del Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards per più di trent'anni e che ora continua con Theatre no Theatre.
L'esplorazione si svolgerà lungo due direttrici. In primo luogo verrà proposto un lavoro pratico basato su canti provenienti dalla tradizione afro-caraibica e africana, che consentirà di esplorare l’impatto che determinate qualità vibratorie, ritmiche e melodiche possono avere sulla persona che canta. In secondo luogo, i partecipanti saranno invitati a lavorare su canti e/o testi che loro stessi avranno portato all’incontro, per investigarne la natura, cercare una specifica linea viva che questi materiali potrebbero rivelare e il loro potenziale come strumenti creativi.

LIVING SONG

The workshop is the 20th in a cycle of workshops that Jessica has conducted since June 2022 in Milan. It is open to anyone wishing to deepen a practical work on singing. Through the relationship between precision and organicity, the workshop will strive to unearth the creative potential of each participant focusing on action, singing and the living voice. As in some traditions, such work on song and action is accompanied by an approach to the interiority of the human being and its potentialities. Step by step, participants will be guided by Jessica Losilla-Hébrail in a particular experience of interweaving impulse, voice and action.
Fundamentally, the exploration will take place along two lines. Firstly, sessions of work on songs coming from Afro-Caribbean and African traditions will be held. These sessions contain an approach to voice, impulse and action that has been at the heart of Richards’ research for more than thirty-five years, a working process in which the work on song explores the potential impact that the vibrational, rhythmic and melodic qualities of a given song can have on the doing person. Secondly, participants will be invited to bring one or more songs and/or texts, to investigate their nature, look for a specific living line that these materials could reveal and their potential as creative tools.
